A short summary video of the findings of the recently published paper "the connection between the management of grazing environment, forage and farmed venison metabolomes" (Fleming et al., 2026).
We have functionally diverse pastures on the Integral Health Dairy Farm due to this research, and we have a PhD programme with Mountain River Vension called Integral Health By Design in Deer Farming Systems, where deer are grazing either a functionally diverse pasture or a monoculture and metabolomic profile, lipiodmic profile, liveweight gain and plasma total antioxidant status are measured. There will also be a human trial to measure the postprandial health effects of consuming vension from the two different systems.
