The Technology @ IHDF project serves as both a technology demonstrator and testbed. It allow technology to be deployed to understand how it works and integrates into working farm conditions whilst also providing researchers additional data to make decisions and gain insight into the performance of the farm.

The technology deployed spans a range of areas from environmental to animal and allows a detailed picture of whole of farm operations to be developed.

The technology includes the G.A.I.T Tower which measures atmospheric and ground carbon to determine the carbon emissions/sequestration occurring on the farm at a high resolution. On animal sensing combines ProTag ear tags, smaxtec boluses and AfiMilk collars which monitor animal activity and pasture consumption.

In the dairy shed, technology to measure body condition and the AfiMilk and AfiLabs technology give a detail picture of milk composition and production.

Research is on-going into data platforms that can bring together data from disparate systems to provide a whole of farm view along with supporting modelling and predictive analytics.
